U.S. Engineering Company Partners with National Jewish Health

to assist the Kunsberg School

The U.S. Engineering Company has pledged $80,000 to help education at the Kunsberg School for chronically ill children on the campus of National Jewish Health. The school’s director,  John Reid, will apply the funds to critical educational needs at Kunsberg.

“The generous support from U.S. Engineering will help us fund, among other things, our reading curriculum, laptop computers for teachers, student  transportation needs and enhanced teacher training and professional in-service programs,” said Mr. Reid.

The Kunsberg School is a day-school for students in grades K – 8 with chronic diseases who may require medical assistance during the normal school day. The school is approved by the Colorado Department of Education and is located on the main campus of National Jewish Health. There is no charge for students to attend Kunsberg. Children who attend the school have medical problems, which may cause frequent absences from school. The goals of the educational program are to help students achieve academic and physical excellence and prepare them to become independent, self-reliant and responsible. With appropriate instruction, students can learn specific self-care practices, which will enable them to monitor their own illnesses and lead productive, meaningful, active lives.

"We are thrilled to be able to financially support the Kunsberg school, but we are even more excited about getting to know the exceptional students and teachers that make this school so great," said H. Tyler Nottberg, Chairman and CEO of U.S. Engineering Company.  "We are looking forward to being able to contribute more than just a check."
